QSL INFORMATION FOR THE 1/2/21 WCPH DX TEST

WCPH is currently celebrating their 65th anniversary of serving Southeastern Tennessee. The station’s branding is “Homegrown 1220” and “Southeast Tennessee’s Oldies Station.”

Joe Miller, KJ8O has designed a special 65th Anniversary QSL card, which will be available to those who successfully log this holiday test. If you wish to report reception of the DX test from either tonight or December 26, 2020 please submit your report to the Courtesy Program Committee (CPC) at:

les@highnoonfilm.com

We prefer an .mp3 recording of the best reception, no more than 2 minutes or so in length. If you cannot record the test, then detailed written reports can also be accepted. Please include time stamps for each element that you received—and describe the content as best you can.

If you’re really old school—you can send a SD card, USB key, cassette audio tape, or even 1/4” reel tape to:

Les Rayburn, N1LF
121 Mayfair Park
Maylene, AL 35114

Please include a SASE with return postage.

Those who are successful will receive a .PDF file of the QSL card, suitable for printing. Please allow 2-3 weeks or longer to process. Please only submit one report, even if you heard both tests.

Also include your location, antenna, and receiver details. The station finds this information very helpful.

(1/1/2021)The Courtesy Program Committee (CPC) of the NRC & IRCA is pleased to announce that WNJC 1360 kHz in Washington Township, New Jersey will continue to run weekly maintenance tests each late night Saturday/Sunday Morning this month.

Chief Engineer Duke Hamann sent the following notice this afternoon:

Happy New Year! I wanted to let you know that I will be continuing our DX tests into 2021 on WNJC 1360 AM every Sunday 0100 - 1100 UTC (Saturday 8pm - Sunday 6am EST) in January.

Power level and pattern will be .8kw SSE till midnight EST then will be 5kw SSE midnight to 6am EST. If anything changes, I will post in our Facebook group and try to get it to the IRCA list as well.

01/03/21 01:00 - 11:00 UTC (01/02 08:00 PM - 01/03 06:00 AM EST)
01/10/21 01:00 - 11:00 UTC (01/09 08:00 PM - 01/10 06:00 AM EST)

01/31/21 01:00 - 11:00 UTC (01/30 08:00 PM - 01/31 06:00 AM EST)

To assist in keeping DX’ers informed of last minute changes and to better track receptions of the station during it’s maintenance, CE Hamann has created a Facebook group:

WNJC DX Test Facebook Group:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/wnjc1360dx

This is an excellent opportunity for European DX’ers to log this station during the winter—with minimal ionization of the D-Layer during the day—and quiet nights perfect for reception.

(11/30/20)WNJC 1360 DX Tests-

John “Duke” Hamann continues to work on tuning the transmitters and antennas at WNJC during weekend overnights when their listenership is low. This is providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for DX’ers to log this station. Even better, he’s incorporating FT-8 mode for many of this tests since he only needs tones for his maintenance purpose.

Duke has been kind enough to set up a Facebook Group dedicated to this continuing tests, where he also provides insights on what’s going on with the stations transmitters and antennas. This is the best source of information and updates for last minute test notifications. Check it often, especially as we approach the weekends.

Not sure how long these will continue so get it while it’s hot! Thanks again Duke for this!

THIS TEST (11/28-29) WAS CANCELLED due to transmitter issues; it will likely happen again 12/5-6. At midnight EST we will switch to our daytime pattern at 5kw. At 1:00am till 6:00am EST we will run our audio DX test.
